Check it - This is where I'm going! |
Just kidding! This blog is for all of you so that you know what I am doing with myself when I travel between Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania with the
McGill Africa Field Study Semester program from January till April.
I know, I know, a lot of people start blogs and never finish them soooo I'm just going to put it out there NOW that I dontt know if I will keep up with it once I'm in East Africa, especially considering that I have no idea what I am getting myself into and whether it includes a stable internet connection. All that is important right now is that I have really good intentions so let's see what happens!
Since my trip is only a few weeks away, I've already started prepping myself. I have bought A LOT of Malarone Malaria pills so that I avoid malaria (please and thank you) and I have given my body an upgrade as I am now immune to (but not limited to):
- Hep A
- Hep B
- Yellow Fever
- Meningitus
- Polio/Diptheria/other stuff I can't spell
- Typhoid (let me suggest that you avoid taking oral vaccinations at all cost because they suck. I went through one entire bottle of peptobismal (foreshadowing my trip?) and lots of stomach pain while attempting to study for my Swahili Midterm. The whole process requires 1.5 weeks and 4 evil pills.
However, I have to hand it to my travel doctor who was amazing and very accommodating - so if anyone is looking for a STELLAR travel clinic in Toronto, let me know.
So basically - I'm invincible.
I just have to buy a travel backpack so if anyone has suggestions let me know your favourite. And get excited to hear about my 5 day orientation in Montreal! Sooooo this concludes my first post ... how exciting :)!
